After the death of Yash Joharin 2004 Dharma Productions was taken over by his son Karan Johar

From 2008 onwards, Dharma Productions introduced several new directors, including Ayan Mukerji, Punit Malhotra, Karan Malhotra, and Shakun Batra

In 2013, the company co-produced the critically acclaimed drama The Lunchbox, which was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language

The company has produced more than 30 Bollywood films, few of them were co-produced with companies such as UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment. As of September 2016, Dharma has announced many projects in multiple stages of production. Scheduled to release in October 2016 is Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, in November 2016, they will release Gauri Shinde\’s Dear Zindagi a co-production with Red Chillies Entertainment and Hope Productions.

In January 2017, Dharma will release Shaad Ali\’s romantic film OK Jaanu and in March 2017 Shashank Khaitan\’s Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The company has also confirmed that they will be producing Ayan Mukerji\’s currently untitled superhero film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
